Sally Mellgren, M.D.
Dr. Sally Mellgren has practiced ophthalmology in Oceanside, California since 1987. As a board-certified ophthalmologist, she is highly respected and well-known in North San Diego county communities and beyond as a compassionate, innovative physician and surgeon who remains on the cutting edge of new technology and approaches to caring for her patients. Dr. Mellgren is involved in clinical trials and conducts research out of her Oceanside office.
In her general ophthalmology practice, Dr. Mellgren specializes in the treatment of cataracts, glaucoma, implantable contact lens (an alternative to Lasik surgery), abnormalities of the cornea and macular degeneration. Dr. Mellgren is recognized as a gifted surgeon always demonstrating focus and precision in the operating room, which results in excellent outcomes for her patients. A noted cataract surgeon, Dr. Mellgren benefits from using the latest intraocular lens available in the marketplace. She is one of only a few ophthalmologists with subspecialty training in interventional ophthalmology for the treatment of glaucoma, allowing her to perform canaloplasty surgery.
